With the Tamaraw FX being the sales leader, Isuzu wanted to catch the action with the Indonesian based Hilander. While a base SL and a loaded SLX were launched first, a 1999 update gave rise to the XTRM variant, a high rise model that can be considered as the Crosswind XUV's spiritual predecessor.
